Habeeb ‘Portable‘ Okikiola, a Nigerian singer, has been released on bail after appearing in court on Monday evening. He was remanded in custody following an alleged assault on police officers.
According to a statement from the singer, he was released on Monday evening after appearing in court. On Tuesday, he distributed relief items to less-favoured members of society. A video circulating online shows a crowd surrounding him as he distributed the items.
In a statement, the singer said that he will be back in court on April 26 for a further hearing.
On Monday, the singer was arraigned in court by Chief Magistrate A.S. Shoneye on five counts of assault. The judge ruled that the charges were bailable. The singer was granted bail with a $300,000 bail and two $500,000 sureties, both of whom must reside in the state.
